High resolution security cameras and audio systems networked throughout rail vehicles!

The Geo Focus® LLC TrainTrac® suite of products now includes a passenger monitoring and recording system that supports the use of multiple high resolution cameras throughout a train consist and is capable of transmitting high resolution video across car couplers.

Hailed as a significant industry advancement, the GeoFocus Video Recording System (GVRS) is a high resolution security camera system with enhanced video recording capabilities supported by EtherTrac™, an Ethernet compatible 100 Megabit per second advanced digital trainline network system.

Unlike the conventional low resolution security systems used on most rail vehicles and buses today, the GVRS is a “state of the art”, rugged, solid-state mobile system developed to provide operators with the ability to monitor and record audio and high resolution images from multiple cameras throughout multi-car consists. Each recorder supports up to 16 cameras with a variety of possible camera and frame rate combinations. Triggered events can be used to automatically switch camera recording rates and enable audio recording, thereby significantly improving the ability to monitor and record security concerns. Both systems are designed to provide high quality images that can be used for post event software analysis.

The EtherTrac&trade (patent pending) is an advanced broadband trainline network system that supports high data rate broadband intra-car connections and enables inter-car data transfer rates of up to 100Mbit per second across the entire consist. This technology uses the existing train coupling system equipped with a pair of special coupler pins.

Crews and security officers aboard moving rail vehicles can now view high resolution camera monitors from centralized and secure consist locations, without the need to move from car to car. The GeoFocus Video Recording System also supports 802.11 Wireless LAN network capabilities for transmitting images from the vehicle to land-based receivers.

Production deliveries for the GVRS and EtherTrac™ are scheduled for fall of 2005. These systems will be demonstrated at the forthcoming APTA EXPO 2005 Conference in Dallas September 26th - 28th, 2005.
